Bing Maps introduced in Facebook

Mark Zuckerberg showed introduction of Timeline months ago, a new way to present your life, via Facebook. Another interesting thing is the presence of Bing Maps on the social network.

Embedding Bing Maps in Facebook is a part of the new partnership between 2 giants on the market. The collaboration among Bing Maps and Facebook will definitely continue, the TIMELINE will be developed more.

The recent example of Facebook’s strategic collaboration with Microsoft happened,  together with the company’s new Places location service. Bing Maps will now be introduced as the default maps when in all Places interfaces. Including the web site, mobile web site and in mobile apps plus the iPhone.

The Google Maps probably will suffer from this interaction.

Select the Places button, find the region where you are at the moment and check-in. Just with single click the check-in will flow to your profile on Facebook.com a MAP from BING, a pin of the location and if there is any commentary you have added to your check-in. Places in the same time are able to see where your facebook friends have checked in, a link to get directions to an area (Bing Maps of course) and a Like button for the respective place page.

Half a billion users overnight are able to check-in to locations giving a wealth of info to you and your friends about businesses, common places to go and who of your friends is going to the most random locations.

The new style is with template closer to FACEBOOK, most obviously does away with the purple freeways the clashed with the social network’s muted blue colors. Smaller roads are also given a subtle shading at outer zoom levels, nice and simple map. Microsoft made a special map for FACEBOOK, there is no way for now to customize the map. We will see what will happen in feature.
